[ARCHIVED] Hit and Run Traffic Crash

On 09-05-18 at approximately 11:47 a.m., officers with the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to the Carbondale Middle School, 1150 East Grand Avenue, in reference to a hit and run traffic crash. Officers learned from witnesses that a subject struck a gate with a vehicle on the north side of the building.  The subject then drove away and officers located the subject approximately fifteen minutes later and arrested him.  The subject is identified as Joshua R. Jager, 23 years of age, of Carbondale, Illinois.  Officers charged Jager with Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.  Students and Staff witnessed the crash, however, no one was injured and they were not in the immediate vicinity of the crash.  The school staff followed protocol and notified all staff and parents.  There are not any known threats to the school, staff or students at this time.
