[ARCHIVED] Arrest Warrant Obtained for Man in Connection to Aggravated Battery With a Firearm Incident

On 08-06-18, detectives with the City of Carbondale Police Department applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Nicholas A. M. Hastings, age 23 of Carbondale, in connection with the shooting incident that occurred 08-03-18 in the 800 block of West High Street. The Jackson County warrant charges Hastings with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Armed Robbery and bond has been set on the warrant at $750,000. Hastings should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about Hastings’ whereabouts should contact the Carbondale Police Department.

Prior Release:

On 08-03-18 around 3:55 p.m., officers with the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale emergency department regarding a shooting that occurred a short time earlier in the 800 block of West High Street. The victim reported he met with a female acquaintance and during the meeting, a male suspect who was with the female, displayed a handgun and demanded property from the victim. The male suspect then shot the victim in the abdomen. The victim was taken to the emergency department for treatment of a non-life threatening injury. The female acquaintance, a juvenile, has been arrested. Investigators are continuing to follow leads in an effort to identify and arrest the suspect. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
