Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Expired Registration, Obstruction of Justice, and Warrant Investigation

For Immediate Release

 CARBONDALE – On October 6th, 2023 at 11:34 p.m., City of Carbondale police officers stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of West Main Street because the registration was expired. In the course of the investigation, officers located a firearm inside the vehicle. Officers arrested Christopher A. Timmons, 27 years old of Colp, IL. for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Expired Registration. Officers also arrested the passenger, Trance D. Neal, 33 of Carbondale, for Obstructing Justice, as well as a Jackson County arrest warrant for failing to appear on a charge of Possession of Cannabis. Timmons and Neal were incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
