Hit and Run Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Traffic Crash Investigation

CARBONDALE – On September 26th at 7:30 p.m., City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 400 block of East Walnut Street for a report of a hit-and-run traffic crash involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived and located the victim with serious injuries. The victim was transported to the hospital by the Jackson County Ambulance Service.
Witnesses indicated the suspect vehicle was a silver or gray sports utility vehicle which was last seen turning south on South Graham Street from East Walnut Street. Detectives were able to utilize intersection cameras and privately owned cameras to identify the suspect vehicle as a 2010 Nissan Rogue, Illinois license plate K60 0864. The Carbondale Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle. The victim remains hospitalized with serious injuries. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
