Carbondale – On 06-28-23 at approximately 7:26 p.m., City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 100 block of North Giant City Road regarding a report of an assault involving a knife. Officers learned that the suspect, Shakota C. Futch 33 years old of Carbondale, brandished a knife and threatened an acquaintance during a dispute. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Futch was later located by officers in the 1200 block of East Walnut Street where she resisted officers’ efforts to place her under arrest. Futch was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Resisting a Peace Officer. She was incarcerated in the Jackson Jail. The investigation into this incident is active and ongoing.
