Kidnapping Investigation
Carbondale – On 06-15-23 at 3:58 p.m., City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 200 block of North Wall Street regarding a kidnapping that had just occurred. Officers learned that a juvenile female was taken from the scene against her will by a male acquaintance identified as Chrishon A. Sawyer, 18 of Carbondale. A large police presence was in the 200 block of South Dixon during the course of the investigation.
The victim was eventually recovered about one hour after the initial report. She suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention. Sawyer was subsequently arrested and charged with Kidnapping, Domestic Battery, and Unlawful Restraint. He was transported to the Jackson County Jail. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
