Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm Arrests 

For Immediate Release 

Carbondale – On 06-12-23 at 12:15 a.m. City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 700 block of South Illinois Avenue regarding reports of shots fired. Officers found several vehicles that had been struck by gunfire and located damage to a building in the area due to the gunfire. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. 

In the ensuing investigation, detectives identified Michael O. Evans, 21 of Carbondale, and a juvenile male as suspects in the shooting incident. Evans and the juvenile were both located and arrested on 06-12-23. Evans was charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail. The juvenile was detained in a juvenile detention center on charges related to the investigation. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
