CARBONDALE – The Drug Enforcement Administration announces its 24th Prescription Drug Take Back Day is scheduled for April 22nd. The public can drop off potentially dangerous prescription medications at the lobby of the Carbondale Police Department (501 South Washington Street, Carbondale) Saturday, April 22nd from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Accepted – Tablets, Capsules, Patches and other solid forms of prescription drugs.
Not Accepted – Liquids (including intravenous solutions), syringes and other sharps and illegal drugs.
DEA will continue to accept vaping devices and cartridges at its drop off locations provided lithium batteries are removed.
In partnership with local law enforcement, Take Back Day has removed more than 8,300 tons of medication from circulation since its inception. Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container.
