Fatal Traffic Crash
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Carbondale - On 04-07-23 at approximately 2:39 a.m., City of Carbondale police officers responded to West Walnut Street at Poplar Street regarding a multi-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. Officers discovered a pedestrian had been struck by two passing vehicles. The pedestrian was immediately taken by ambulance to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment. It was learned that the pedestrian passed away at the hospital as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash, and the investigation is currently active and ongoing. It was determined that intoxication was not a factor related to the drivers of the involved vehicles.
