On 02/07/23 at approximately 8:41 a.m., City of Carbondale police officers along with Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 800 block of East Main Street regarding a report of a person who threatened harm to themselves and officers with a firearm. Officers isolated the individual and eventually took them into custody without incident. Carbondale police officers along with the Carbondale Police Mental Health Advocate referred the subject for mental health treatment at a local hospital. The Illinois State Police assisted during the incident. No further information is being released at this time.
