Carbondale - On 01-27-2023 at 11:29 p.m., City of Carbondale police officers stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of East Main Street. During the course of the investigation, officers arrested the driver, Stephan D. Harris, 22 of Carbondale for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon after he was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm. Officers also issued Harris citations for Operating an Uninsured Vehicle, Operating a Vehicle with No Tail Lights and Operating a Vehicle with Suspended Registration. After conferring with the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, Harris was released on a recognizance bond pending a court appearance. The investigation is active and ongoing.
Chief Stan Reno said, “Our officers and detectives continue to work diligently to remove illegal firearms from our community to prevent violent crime. I am proud of their continuous hard work.”
