[ARCHIVED] Death Investigation

CARBONDALE –  On 01/21/23 at 1:27 a.m. City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 800 block of East Grand Avenue in reference to a death investigation.   The officers found a male with a gunshot wound inside an apartment.  The identity of the victim is not being released pending notifications to family and loved ones.  There are no known threats to the public at this time.   The Carbondale Police Department requested assistance from the Illinois State Police to lead this open and ongoing investigation.  No further information will be provided at this time.
