Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm Investigation

On 01-15-2023 at 1:57 a.m., City of Carbondale police officers monitored a large crowd in the 200 block of West Main Street when an unidentified person fired several shots in an unknown direction.  As the suspect fled on foot, another unidentified individual in the crowd fired shots.  The first suspect, described as a black male wearing a black coat and brown beanie-style hat, fled south across Main Street into an alley.  Officers later learned the suspect was last seen running east crossing South Washington Street in the area of East Monroe Street.  There is not a description to provide of the second suspect at this time.  No one reported injuries and no property was discovered to be damaged.  The investigation is active and ongoing.
