FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Carbondale- The City of Carbondale Police Department is teaming up again this year with Saluki Athletics for the Annual “Coats for Kids” Drive.   The Coats for Kids initiative is a collaborative effort between the Carbondale Police Department and Saluki Athletics to collect new winter coats for children in Southern Illinois.  The donated coats will be distributed by the Carbondale Police Department Community Christmas Store in December.

Fans are encouraged to donate new coats for children ages 1-8 in an effort to help our younger Southern Illinois neighbors in need during the cold winter months.   Our greatest need at this time are coat sizes 3T , 5-6, 8-10 and 12-14 for girls and 4-5, 7-8, 8-10 and 12-14 for boys.

Saluki Athletics will collect coats during upcoming men’s and women’s Saluki basketball games, beginning with Thursday 's women's basketball game against Chicago State.  Any fan donating a new children’s coat at the December 13th men’s game vs. Lincoln will receive a ticket for that night’s game at the ticket window.    A full list of collection dates is below.

New coats will also be accepted for donation at the Carbondale Police Department: 501 S. Washington Street, Carbondale City Hall: 200 S. Illinois Avenue, and Banterra Center/Charles Helleny Pavilion until December 13th.   Together, we can help keep Southern Illinois warm.   Anyone with questions about the program is encouraged to contact the police department at 618-457-3200.
