CARBONDALE – On 09/22/22 at 1:50 p.m., City of Carbondale Police officers responded to the 700 block of South Lewis Lane in reference to a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. Officers learned the suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and stole a firearm. During the course of the investigation, officers learned the identity of the suspect to be Kendal A Burke, age 37 of Chicago. Officers applied for and received a Jackson County Arrest Warrant for Burglary, Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon and No Valid Firearm Owner’s Identification for Burke with a $100,000.00 (one hundred thousand dollar) bond. The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
