[ARCHIVED] Unlawful Use of Weapons by Felon Investigation

On 08-23-22 at approximately 10:02 a.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to the 800 block of North Wall Street in reference to a report of a man with a gun. During the course of the investigation, officers learned the suspect, Rasheed A Casler, 39 of Carbondale, displayed a handgun to the victim in a threatening manner.  Officers located Casler and learned he had a valid Jackson County Warrant for failure to appear for Theft and a warrant out of Texas for Military Desertion.  Officers arrested Cassler for the warrants and officers subsequently found the firearm used in the incident. In addition to the warrants, officers charged Casler with Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon and Disorderly Conduct.  Casler was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.  The investigation is active and ongoing
