[ARCHIVED] Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon Investigation

On 05-10-22 at approximately 12:05 a.m., City of Carbondale police officers responded to the area of the 300 block of South Cedarview Street in reference to a report of a suspicious vehicle with the license plates intentionally obscured. Officers located the vehicle in the 100 block of South Wall Street and the driver evaded officers.   The officers found the vehicle in the 500 block of East Main Street and at least three occupants fled on foot from the vehicle. Officers captured Davaughn L. Graves, 21 of Marion, IL. after a brief foot chase.  During the course of the investigation, officers recovered two firearms and learned the vehicle had been reported as stolen from Murphysboro.   Officers arrested Graves on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons, Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer and Possession of Cannabis less than 10 grams.  Graves was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.  The investigation is active and ongoing.
