[ARCHIVED] City Opens Public Comment Period for ARPA Funding

ARPA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale has opened its public comment period, allowing residents to offer input on the desired uses for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding. The public comment period begins Friday, April 1, and will remain open through Saturday, April 30.

Residents may review summaries of each funding proposal and project idea and submit feedback electronically or by mail. Summaries are posted online, along with an online comment form, here.

To submit by mail, send comments to the City Manager’s Office, 200 S. Illinois Avenue, Carbondale, IL 62901.

Projects should align with the adopted goals of the City Council and meet local needs within these four eligible use categories:

  • Replace lost public sector revenue
  • Support the COVID-19 public health and economic response
  • Provide premium pay for eligible workers performing essential work
  • Invest in water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure

For more information, please contact Public Relations Officer Roni LeForge at 618-457-3262.
