[ARCHIVED] Aggravated Battery to a Pregnant Person

 On 02-15-22 at approximately 11:25 a.m. City of Carbondale police officers met with a victim of a battery, which occurred in the 600 block of East College Street.  The victim indicated the battery occurred on 02-14-22 at about approximately 4:30 p.m.  Officers learned the victim and her spouse were walking their dog when the suspect, known to them as Brian W. Swain, approached them.  After a brief conversation, Swain punched the victim, who was pregnant, in the abdomen.  On 02-19-22 officers located Swain in the 200 block of South Wall Street and arrested him for Aggravated Battery to a Pregnant Person.  Swain was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.  The investigation is still active and ongoing.   Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the police department at 618-457-3200 or Crimestoppers at 618-549-COPS (2677).
