Possession of Stolen Vehicle and Aggravated Fleeing to Elude Investigation

On 12-13-21 at approximately 2:31 p.m., City of Carbondale Police officers responded to the 900 block of West Main Street regarding a stolen vehicle occupied by a suspect.  When officers arrived, the suspect drove over a curb and fled in the vehicle north on North Oakland Avenue.  The suspect vehicle crashed near the intersection of North Oakland Avenue and West Willow Street, damaging property in the process.   The suspect fled on foot and was quickly apprehended by officers.   Officers charged the suspect, Andrew L Walker Jr., 23 of Carbondale, with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Aggravated Fleeing to Elude, Possession of Controlled Substance and outstanding warrants from Jackson County and Union County.   Walker was treated at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for minor injuries related to the crash.  Walker was released from the hospital and incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.  Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the City of Carbondale Police Department at (618) 549-2121.
