[ARCHIVED] Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon and Battery Investigation

On 09/25/21 at 6:30 p.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Walnut Street in reference to a disturbance. During the course of the investigation, officers arrested Tamira Smart, age 32 of Milwaukee, WI, for Battery and Quincy Brown, age 48 of Cairo, for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm with no valid FOID.  Brown was treated for a minor injury sustained during the battery incident with Smart.  After consulting the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, Smart released pending a court appearance while Brown was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.  Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Police Department at 618-457-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 618-549-COPS.  The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
