[ARCHIVED] Animal Cruelty Investigation

On 09/03/21 City of Carbondale Police Officers became aware of an accusation of animal cruelty that was alleged to have ended in the death of a dog in the 1100 block of East Walnut in the month of June, 2021. Officers initiated an investigation into the matter. This investigation led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Jacob K. Spradling, 22 of Murphysboro, for the charge of Animal Cruelty on 09/08/21. Spradling was located later in the day at a residence in Murphysboro and arrested without incident. He was transported to the Jackson County Jail where he was released on $50,000 bond. The Carbondale Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Murphysboro Police Department, Murphysboro Animal Control and the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office.
