[ARCHIVED] Reckless Discharge of a Firearm Investigation

On 08/10/21 at approximately 1:06 p.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 500 block of South Lake Heights Avenue. Officers learned several shots were fired between unidentified individuals near the intersection of East College Street and South Lewis Lane.  Shots were fired again near the intersection of East College Street and South Lake Heights Avenue by unknown individuals shortly after the first incident was reported.  A gray sport utility vehicle was reported leaving the area at a high rate of speed.  All suspects fled the area prior to the arrival of officers.  There is not any suspect information to provide at this time.  No injuries have been reported but a residence was damaged as a result of the incident.  Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Police Department at 618-457-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 618-549-COPS.  The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
