[ARCHIVED] Virtual Carbondale Resilience Fair Scheduled for August 28

Sustainability

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CARBONDALE – The Carbondale Sustainability Commission, in coordination with the Climate Economy Education Inc. and the SI Cooperative Business Fund, is hosting a Virtual Resilience Fair on Saturday, August 28, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Zoom.  Anyone who calls Carbondale home is invited to attend the virtual fair.

The Sustainability Commission has drafted a Sustainability Action Plan to lead Carbondale into the uncertain future of climate change in a way that prioritizes the environment, economics, and equity. The fair will open with an educational panel with speakers who will address those three topics, followed by small group discussion via Zoom breakout rooms to elicit more ideas for the Action Plan. During the celebration portion of this event, 3:00 to 3:30 pm, several organizations will have a chance to share their stories about local resilience, information about their resources, including funding available, and how to get involved.

For more information, visit resiliencefairs.com (note the plural “fairs” – this will be the first of several around Southern Illinois) or contact Jane Cogie at 618-713-7024 or jane.cogie@gmail.com

“Carbondale prides itself on providing its visitors, students, businesses and residents with a unique mix of edge and ease. It’s a cultural town, yet free of pretense, embracing the great outdoors as readily as urban sophistication. Here, we are open to new ideas, experiences and cultures, so you are encouraged to both express yourself and be yourself, in all ways. That’s Carbondale…All Ways Open… for family, fun, business, new ideas and a bright tomorrow.”
