On 02-24-2021 at approximately 5:25 p.m., City of Carbondale police officers responded to the area of the 1500 block of West Walnut Street regarding a report of an aggravated discharge of a firearm from a vehicle. During the course of the investigation, officers learned the suspect fired several gunshots from a white sport utility vehicle toward another moving vehicle on the roadway. The suspect vehicle fled from the area and sideswiped a parked vehicle. Witnesses last saw the suspect vehicle traveling south on South Dixon Avenue. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt. The suspect vehicle is possibly an early 2000’s Suburban, with possible passenger side damage as a result of striking the parked vehicle. The suspect vehicle may also have some pre-existing damage to the driver’s side rear bumper. There were no reported injuries as a result of this incident.
