Motor Vehicle Theft Investigation

 

On 12-26-20 at approximately 1:30 a.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to the area of the 300 block of East Walnut Street in reference to a report of motor vehicle theft.   Officers learned the victim’s vehicle was left unlocked and running while the victim entered a business.   The victim returned to find a suspect stole the vehicle.  During the course of the investigation, officers located the vehicle unoccupied in the area of Hester Street and State Street. The vehicle was subsequently returned to the owner. Officers arrested a juvenile male from Carbondale for Motor Vehicle Theft.  After consulting the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office about the incident, the juvenile suspect was released pending a court appearance.  Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the City of Carbondale Police Department at (618) 457-3200.
