[ARCHIVED] Aggravated Assault Investigation

On 11-26-2020 at approximately 6:06 p.m., officers of the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to the 400 block of West Jackson Street in reference to a report of an attempted robbery.  Officers learned two black male suspects approached the victim and one of them displayed what appeared to be a handgun.  The suspects demanded money from the victim.  The victim confronted the suspects and they fled east on foot.  The victim did not report any injuries as a result of the incident.   During the course of the investigation, officers identified the suspects as Dennis A Coleman, age 20 of Carbondale, and a 17 years old juvenile from Carbondale. Officers arrested Coleman for disorderly conduct.  Officers arrested the juvenile offender for Aggravated Assault and incarcerated the juvenile in a juvenile detention facility.  Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the City of Carbondale Police Department at (618) 457-3200.   The investigation into the incident continues.
