[ARCHIVED] Unlawful Use of Weapons Investigation

On 01-29-2020 at approximately 11:10 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of South Crestview Street in reference to a report of shots fired.   When officers arrived, they learned the suspects fired shots at the victim before fleeing from the area.   During the course of the investigation, officers located and arrested the suspects, Victor J Riley, age 18 of DuQuoin and a juvenile male from Carbondale, for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons.  Riley is incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail and the juvenile is incarcerated at a juvenile detention facility.  There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.  Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the police department at 618-457-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 618-549-COPS. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
