CARBONDALE – The Illinois Department of Transportation has selected the City of Carbondale's Chautauqua and McLafferty roads roundabout project for local Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funding.
The City will use the $1,587,155 grant to install a roundabout and bicycle lanes as well as enhance pedestrian access and crossings. Installing the roundabout will improve traffic safety at this intersection. Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in late summer of 2020.
