[ARCHIVED] Fatal Traffic Crash Investigation

On 11-16-2018 at 5:36 a.m., officers of the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to the 1000 block of East Walnut Street regarding a traffic crash. Officers found a deceased 59 year old male whose vehicle collided with a tree. The investigation revealed the vehicle had been traveling eastbound in the 1000 block of East Walnut Street when it left the roadway, traveled eastbound on a grass median and struck a tree.  The Jackson County Coroner’s Office  pronounced the male driver deceased at the scene.  The identity of the driver is not being released at this time pending notifications of family.  The investigation into this incident, to include an accident reconstruction, is currently active.  The Jackson County Coroner’s Office and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the investigation.
