Description: The City of Carbondale was awarded $1.2M through the Rebuild Illinois Grant to make accessibility improvements at Evergreen Park. The funding will be used to make significant upgrades, including the replacement of the bathrooms, paving of all roads and parking lots within the park, and adding sidewalks to make the park more accessible.

Location: Evergreen Park, located off Pleasant Hill Road on the south side of Carbondale.
Project Cost: $1,245,541
Funding Source: The City of Carbondale was one of only 17 communities in the state to receive funding through a Rebuild Illinois Grant. The $1.2M grant was awarded to the City by the Governor’s Office and the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The grant will pay for 100% of the project cost.

Construction Updates
12/1/2020 - The plans are complete and will be going to bid as soon as the City receives approvals from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) to proceed with the project.
10/22/2020 - Submitted documents for environmental review.
09/04/2020 - TWM Consultants are finalizing bid documents of paving areas.
