The Carbondale Convention and Tourism Bureau is responsible for:

  • Governing the Bureau, the direction of its work and the control of its property
  • Recommending contracts, budgets, policies and guidelines for the operation of Carbondale Tourism Bureau

Composition

  • 1 Council member appointed by the Mayor
  • 8 members appointed by the Mayor with consent of the Council
  • Appointed members must represent interests in:
    • Attractions within 1 1/2 miles of City limits
    • Lodging
    • Nightlife
    • Restaurants
    • Retail
    • Southern Illinois University
  • Mayor serves as ex-officio
