Eagle Scout to Donate Fire Prevention Funds to City of Carbondale Fire Department

In pursuit of the rank of Eagle Scout, Carbondale resident William Dunkel has spent a great deal of time during the last year teaching City of Carbondale residents how to better prepare for various types of emergencies including floods, earthquake, tornado, and fire.

On Friday, October 2, 2009, in his continued support of community preparedness, Mr. Dunkel will present a check for $500 to the City of Carbondale Fire Department to be used for the Fire Prevention Program. The Fire Prevention Program currently includes elementary fire education, a mobile fire safety trailer, home safety inspections and free smoke alarms and batteries for those in need.

The presentation will take place at Fire Station #1, located at 600 East College Street in Carbondale at 3:15 p.m.
