Councilman Lee Fronabarger Biography

Lee M. Fronabarger 

June 7, 2011 – Present

 Lee M. Fronabarger is retired from Southern Illinois University Carbondale after 22.5 years of service in Transfer Student Services, a unit of the Enrollment Management Division. He continues to be an avid Saluki sports fan. For nearly five years, Fronabarger served on the City Planning Commission, before being appointed to City Council in June, 2011. In April, 2013, he was elected to a four-year term on the Council.

While being a homeowner in Carbondale for the past 25 years, Fronabarger has volunteered for many community efforts and organizations, including Carbondale Main Street and Board, Varsity Center for the Arts renovations, Keep Carbondale Beautiful, Preservation Commission, Chamber of Commerce, and Carbondale Park District Outdoor Family Aquatics Center Advisory Committee.

Fronabarger is a graduate of Jackson High School and earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Secondary Education, Social Studies Concentration in 1971 from Southeast Missouri State College. One of his favorite courses during college was Municipal Government.
