Do you have what it takes to join our team and be a police officer? The Carbondale Police Department is currently accepting applications for the entry-level police officer examination.
Qualifications to Apply:
Written Examination: The written examination is comprised of 100 multiple-choice questions designed to measure skills in observation and memory, written communication, reading and understanding written information, and reasoning and analytical ability. A passing score is 70 and above.
A writing proficiency exam is also included to assess a candidate’s ability to write a coherent and relevant response to a question. A passing score is 5 out of 10. Candidates must pass both sections to participate in the physical fitness assessment.
Physical Fitness Assessment: The physical fitness assessment consists of the following: sit and reach, sit ups, bench press, and a one and a half (1.5) mile run. Candidates must pass all portions of the assessment to move forward to the oral interview exam.
Oral Interview Examination: Candidates who pass the exam and fitness assessment will be scheduled for oral interviews with the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. This is not a job interview, but should be treated as one with appropriate attire.
